Known for engine cooling parts, NRF has found a champion in one Newcastle-based business whose owner is looking for reliability especially when it comes to servicing Teslas.
For Daniel Hogg, choosing the right replacement part is about more than price. Availability, fit, reliability and the support behind the product all matter when customers are relying on the workshop to get them safely back on the road.
Daniel has been part of Hogg MOT Garage for almost his entire working life. He first began helping at the family business when he was just 14 and joined full-time after leaving school. Around 2004, Daniel took over responsibility for running the family business.
Daniel has continued to develop the business, investing in new skills and preparing the workshop for the changing vehicle landscape.
“We’ve worked hard to bring the garage up to date and expand our capabilities to include electric vehicles,” Daniel explains. “I completed an intensive week of training at the Tesla factory in the Netherlands, developing the skills needed to work on Tesla and other electric vehicles.”
It is an investment in both the garage’s immediate future and the next generation. One of Daniel’s sons plays a key part in the business, with hopes that his other son will join them after leaving school.
Avoiding delays
Operating an efficient workshop means having the right parts available at the right time. Hogg MOT Garage works to a carefully managed appointment schedule, so delays can quickly affect both the business and its customers.
“Availability is key because we like to get vehicles in, repaired and back to the customer as quickly as possible,” says Daniel. “Aftercare, technical support and warranty are also really important when we’re choosing parts.”
Daniel first discovered NRF at a trade show around four or five years ago, where conversations about product development and innovation encouraged him to begin fitting the brand.
Today, Hogg MOT Garage regularly uses NRF components including condensers and parts for electric vehicles.
“Availability is getting better all the time,” Daniel says. “Being able to access EV parts, including Tesla applications, for next-day delivery helps us avoid additional charges and lengthy delivery delays.”
Fit and forget
A replacement part may look right in the box, but for the technician fitting it, accuracy and quality are what really count.
Daniel’s experience with NRF products has been consistently positive.
“We haven’t had any issues. The products are straightforward to fit and the fit is always good,” he says. “Some other brands can be tricky to install, but we haven’t found that with NRF.”
That consistent performance gives Daniel confidence when recommending NRF products to his customers.
“I’m very confident recommending NRF. We haven’t had a single issue,” he adds. “We’ve previously experienced problems with products from other brands, including parts that hadn’t been pressure tested. Knowing the quality is there makes a real difference.”
Garage support
As vehicles become increasingly complex, Daniel believes manufacturers have an important role to play beyond simply supplying parts. Technical information and training are now essential for helping workshops navigate different vehicle systems, repair procedures and emerging technologies.

“There are so many different procedures now,” he explains. “Sometimes you need that additional support to make sure the repair is completed correctly and in line with best practice.”
NRF supports UK workshops through technical trainer Rhys Winmill, backed by a wider network of technical specialists across Europe. This shared knowledge means workshops can access practical guidance, even when a question requires additional expertise from elsewhere within the NRF technical team.
