Ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd is once again sparking the Coventry Bees Speedway team’s bid to win the British Elite League.
It is the fourth successive year that the company has sponsored the revamped Bees who are optimistic about the 2016 campaign after being defeated by eventual winners Poole Pirates in the play-offs last year.
The team will again be captained by England’s Chris Harris and has also been bolstered by the return of former World Number Two Poland’s Krzysztof Kasprzak.
NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has a long-standing association with Speedway and sponsors a number of individual riders, including Harris and triple World Champion Greg Hancock.
Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to once again sponsor Coventry and help them in their quest to win the league this year.
“We value our association with Coventry as Speedway is a real family sport and a lot of our customers are committed fans. The team will be supplied with our racing spark plugs and the riders will also display our logo on their leathers. We also intend to hold VIP events for our customers at two home meetings during the season.”
Coventry Owner and Promoter Mick Horton said: “We are honoured that NGK is once again on-board with us. Their products are fantastic and our relationship just gets better and better each year.”
Skipper Harris is confident about the new season: “Coventry is my home club and I wear the jacket with pride. The team is gelling together well and I’ve no doubt we have the ability to be the number one team this year.”
Coventry Manager Gary Havelock added: “There shouldn’t be anyone we fear this season. It is up to the guys to show how badly they want to win the league. If we make the play-offs anything can happen and hopefully this will be our year.”
