Exide introduces latest AGM battery

Exide Technologies has announced the introduction of an AGM battery size into its Light Vehicle range.

Designed to meet the power and cycling requirements of modern xEVs, the EK500 offers a L01 AGM format (50Ah, 570A), delivering performance, cycling and market coverage.

Manufactured in Europe, using the same design, production lines and technology as its original equipment (OE) batteries, Exide’s EK500 offers distributors and technicians alike an aftermarket solution with OEM pedigree.

Responding to growing demands from European and Asian car makers, adopting L01 for both SLI and auxiliary applications, the Exide EK500 is suitable for approximately 3.4 million vehicles across Europe. These include the latest BMW X3 and X5, Kia Picanto and Stonic, VW ID.4, Hyundai i10 and Kona models and many others.

Exide’s AGM technology features grid technology, high-surface glass mat separators, alloys and carbon additives in the active mass.

As a result, the Exide EK500 aims to provide longevity and consistent performance, lower internal resistance and minimal voltage drop under high demand – reliable support for safety-critical loads, namely ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features. This makes it the ideal 12V power source for the most demanding applications in xEVs.

Alain Lez, Sr. Business Director Automotive Aftermarket at Exide Technologies, said: “The launch of the new Exide EK500 AGM battery is further evidence of Exide Technologies’ commitment to bringing innovative, powerful and reliable battery solutions to the automotive aftermarket. This smaller-sized AGM battery is the perfect fit for millions of vehicles across globe and is manufactured on the same European production lines as the OE equivalent, making it a compelling proposition for both our distributor partners and workshops.”
