Poor gear shifting and abnormal noise from the transmission on a Range Rover Evoque?

FAULT:

A customer of ours has a 2015 Range Rover Evoque, and they are complaining of poor gear shifting and an abnormal noise from the transmission. During inspection of the vehicle, we noticed the transmission oil level is low, which seems to be due to a large oil leak. So far, we have been unable to find the source.

FIX:

This fault has been known to affect Range Rover Evoque models with transmission code 9HP48, 2014 onwards. The oil leak is due to poor manufacture of the transmission oil gallery plate gasket. Remove and discard the transmission oil gallery plate gasket and retaining bolts. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces. Fit a modified transmission oil gallery plate gasket. Refit the transmission oil gallery plate using new retaining bolts and tighten retaining bolts to the correct torque of 10Nm. Observe the correct transmission oil gallery plate retaining bolt tightening sequence. Top up the transmission oil as required. Carry a out road test to confirm the faults have been eliminated.
