Esso has announced a new sponsorship of Porsche Motorsport for the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most important race of the World Endurance Championship, which takes place this weekend.
The timing coincides with the 20 year anniversary of Porsche and fellow ExxonMobil brand, Mobil 1 working together.
As an Official Partner of Porsche Motorsport, Esso joins Mobil 1 in a broader collaboration uniting three of the world’s most innovative automotive brands with one single philosophy – deliver maximum performance for an outstanding driving experience.
With 2016 marking the 20th year of the Porsche Mobil 1 technology partnership, this weekend’s race is the perfect time for Esso to announce this new relationship with Porsche – 17 time winners of Le Mans. Over 200,000 spectators will see Esso logos adorn both the front and rear of liveries covering the two Porsche 911 RSRs competing in this year’s event.
These kinds of relationships are incredibly valuable for a number of reasons. For example, Mobil 1 is one of Porsche’s longest associations and allows two of motorsport’s leading brands to collaborate and draw the best from high performance automotive technologies. In addition, by working together in this way, Mobil 1 and Porsche are able to provide top flight drivers, like 2015 championship winners Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber, with all the tools they need to succeed.
“Esso is proud to be joining Mobil 1 as a partner of the incredibly successful team Porsche Motorsport,” said Hélène de Carné, Retail Fuels Marketing Manager EAME at Esso.
“As current holders of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship, winning the manufacturer, driver and team prizes, Porsche is the perfect choice for ExxonMobil as it continues to develop next generation fuels and lubricants that help deliver high performance on both the race track and the road.
“It’s amazing for Esso to have the opportunity to join with Porsche and Mobil 1 at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans – we’re very excited to see what the future holds for collaborations between ExxonMobil and one of the world’s most famous automotive brands.”
“Coming off the back of some very productive test sessions last weekend, I’m delighted to welcome Esso into our team,” said Dr. Frank–Steffen Walliser, Vice President, Porsche Motorsport and GT Cars.
“ExxonMobil technology and expertise has proven crucial to performance during our 20 year association with Mobil 1, and the length and strength of this partnership is testament to a shared passion for cutting-edge technology and innovation, both on and off the track.
“As such, we are very excited to announce this new relationship with Esso on the eve of the biggest endurance race of the year.”
