Would a warranty claim fail?

Would a warranty claim fail?

MAKE/MODEL: FIAT GRANDE PUNTO 1.4 2006+
PART AFFECTED: STARTER MOTOR AEY1726

There is a known fault with this vehicle in that the starter motor can fail prematurely and burn out. This is caused by a corroded earth point, which results in poor starting due to the bad electrical connection. Because of this fault the starter motor is excessively cranked, causing the components of the starter motor to fail prematurely.

The following signs of failure will indicate that the starter motor has suffered from one or more of the above faults and requires further investigation:

Blue colour on armature shaft near pinion,
Rattling inside motor when starter motor is shaken,
Burnt smell from inside starter motor,
Damaged teeth on starter motor,
Burnt/discoloured/melted/broken wire from solenoid to starter body.

If this fault exists on the vehicle it is recommended that you check the condition of the earth point (usually located under the windscreen washer reservoir) and, if required, remove and lean/lubricate it before fitment of the replacement starter motor.

Failure to rectify the above fault will result in the premature failure of the starter motor and the warranty will be void.

MAKE/MODEL: BMW3 SERIES E90/92/93 335I 2008+
PART AFFECTED: ALTERNATOR AEK3107

A known fault exists on this vehicle which is caused by the power steering pump pulley or auxiliary belt coming into contact with the sub frame when driving over speed humps.

This contact between the components can cause the auxiliary drive belt to stretch/break/snap, resulting in the premature failure of the alternator pulley and/or bearings, along with the failure of the PAS pump pulley.

If this particular fault is present on the vehicle it is recommended to inspect and replace (if required) the following components before the replacement alternator is fitted:

Auxiliary drive belt,
PAS pump pulley,
Sub frame,
LH engine mounting.

Failure to rectify the above fault will result in the premature failure of the alternator and it will not be covered under warranty.
