Intake Noise On Subaru Forester
FAULT:
We are experiencing a fault on a 2009 Subaru Forester 2.0L. There is an intake-type noise coming from the LH cylinder head area. We have visually checked the intake manifold for any signs of air ingress, but have not found any faults. Has anyone reported this intake noise before?
FIX:
This fault affects several Subaru models with 2.0/2.5L petrol engines. The intake noise from the LH cylinder head area is due to an unsatisfactory design of the intake manifold shield. Remove the LH intake manifold shield (see Fig 1.1). Fit sound insulation material to the intake manifold shield (see Fig 1.2). Refit intake manifold shield. This should rectify the fault.
