An oil change is usually quite straightforward, but when things don’t go to plan Laser Tools offers several solutions.
If there is a leak from the sump plug and a new washer doesn’t cure it, the sump plug seat may need to be refaced. This is a job of just a few seconds with the Laser Tools Drain Plug Resurfacing Kit (part number 6360). Simply screw in the appropriate cutter guide (two are supplied M14 and M15) and then a few turns of the cutter resurfaces the sealing seat. The product is suitable for a wide range of vehicles.
If the thread of your 14mm sump plug has becoming stripped or damaged, then reach for the Laser oil Sump Repair Kit (part number 5227), which enables you to quickly cut a new 15mm thread to fit one of the six included new sump plugs and copper washers. Dropped the sump plug into the oil drain pan? Hands getting covered in oil? The Laser Magnetic Sump Plug Removal Tool is the answer (part number 6245). A simple tool that makes a messy job easy, and safer — hot oil hot oil can scald and waste engine oil may cause dermatitis or even cancer. The tool has an ultra-flexible steel cable and a super-strong magnet to firmly grip the sump plug. Loosen off the sump plug, then attach the tool and spin off the plug. No dirty oil on your hands, and the sump plug is safe and secure.
Finish the job with the Laser Oil Funnel Set (part number 6198) — the funnel has an in-built clamp that holds it secure and allows both hands to be used for pouring the new oil into the engine.
