The UK’s fastest automotive technician is a Champion again.
Brad Jackson, a final year apprentice with DM Keith Skoda, in York, came out of the chasing pack to win the Avon Park International Race Association (APIRA) 2016 Super Pro ET Championship for the second year in a row.
He drives a Lucas Oil-sponsored US-built Worthy Dragster for the Nick Good Racing Team. Powered by a Big Block Chevrolet V8 Enderle 9,258cc methanol-injected engine, it delivers up to 940 bhp and is capable of 0-60 mph in 0.8 seconds. Typical racing speeds are around 170 mph, but his personal best over the ¼ mile strip is 7.62 seconds and 175.02 mph.
Lying 6th going into the final weekend, victory looked only a mathematical possibility for the 20 year-old Lucas Oil driver, but Brad proved unstoppable, winning every run-off while his closest challengers struggled for points.
In the end, the winning margin was 80 points.
Further success for Brad and Lucas Oil is on the cards for later this season as he is still in the hunt for the 2016 National Championship.
