The IAAF has hosted its first hybrid Industry Briefing Session of the year, with key speakers discussing the future of the EV market.
The session also offered members tips on how to get the best out of their team through effective communication.
IAAF member, Corteco, hosted the event, providing attendees with the chance to network over lunch and refreshments, with IAAF’s Head of Membership Development, Mike Smallbone, delivering the session.
Steve Jarnet, Commercial Director at Corteco, opened the event by giving a brief overview of Corteco’s company history. He also highlighted the rapid evolution of hybrid and electric vehicle technology and the opportunities available for the aftermarket.
Steve Carter of Train 4 Auto Consultancy stepped up next to discuss this issue further, while sharing key statistics from across Europe to highlight the impact electric vehicle sales are set to have upon the aftermarket industry. Steve also issued a stark warning to the sector, urging them to prepare for change sooner rather than later.
Aftermarket results expert, Roberto Dal Corso from the Dal Corso Group, then joined from Switzerland via a livestream, offering an insight to members on how to develop communication skills that will keep a team on track when dealing with tough challenges.
Roberto also offered advice on how to leverage communication in order to improve team performance, increase engagement and secure results. Key areas he explored were how to build a team’s learning capacity; leveraging positional power to increase a team’s ability to perform; and increasing influence through candour and curiosity.
Mike then concluded the event by updating members on IAAF’s latest activity, including sharing more information on BER legislation; the importance of access to data within the aftermarket; its work with UKAFCAR; IAAF’s aftermarket career pathway plan; and finally, revealing the exciting event calendar scheduled for the rest of the year.
Mike said: “It was great to meet with members face to face again and we’d like to thank all of our guest speakers for once again sharing a detailed insight into the many opportunities set to become available to the aftermarket in the not-so-distant future. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Corteco for kindly hosting our first Industry Briefing Session of 2022.
“We have some exciting and informative networking events in store throughout 2022 and urge members to keep up to date via our eBulletin and website to ensure they don’t miss out.”
