Delphi expands braking range in 2023

Delphi has added more than 300 braking parts in 2023, including 20 first-to-market additions for high-performance vehicles such as the BMW M-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Other releases launched in 2023 include applications for Tesla, Renault, Nissan, Jeep, Toyota, Honda and VAG to name just a few.

Carl Lester, Global Product Line Manager at Delphi, said: “We’ve worked hard to expand the range this year. As part of that expansion, we recently launched an innovative new range of battery electric vehicle (BEV) brake pads, specifically developed for the fast-growing EV market.”

Data from The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) has shown BEV accounted for 16.3% of new UK registrations so far this year. For 2024, the BEV market share is predicted to be at 22.3%, an increase of 35.5% over 2023.

Delphi’s range of BEV brake pads comprises 63 part numbers, covering 2.7 million vehicles, with a further 16 due for imminent launch. Applications include the Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S/Model 3, in addition to newly released models such as BMW i4/iX, Mercedes EQC/EQEE/QS, and Porsche Taycan/Cross Turismo.

Carl continued: “Delphi BEV brake pads are covered with an advanced coating to provide better initial friction. They also feature a silver powder-coated backplate for high resistance to rust, while a multi-layered steel and rubber composite shim minimises noise and vibration.”
