As Mechanex-PMM Live heads back up to the north for the first time in years, PMM takes a look at what the show has to offer to garages in and around Yorkshire.
Harrogate might traditionally be known for its health-boosting springs and olde-English feel, but this May it will take on a decidedly more modern vibe, as Mechanex-PMM Live comes to the Yorkshire Event Centre. May 16-17th sees the return of the UK’s longest-running aftermarket exhibition to the North and after last year’s triumph at Sandown Park in Surrey, Harrogate’s show promises to be a hit.
This May, workshops north of the Watford Gap will finally get to enjoy the trade show which has been informing and entertaining their southern counterparts for the past few years. So, what is it they’ve got to look forward to? Well, for starters, Mechanex has built up a great reputation over the years as being a great place to get a deal on diagnostic or workshop equipment. However, before you think the show is just about flogging off cheap gear, think for a moment about what getting a deal really means.
No-one wants to be strong-armed into buying something they neither want nor need, or to be convinced into buying something simply because it’s cheap. Luckily, the ethos of Mechanex-PMM Live is all about trying before you buy, with all exhibitors bringing tools for you to get your hands on, inspect and ask questions about before committing to anything. In this age of apps and tool catalogues, Mechanex offers something refreshing with its hands-on approach. Whether that be trying out a wheel balancer to see how it works, testing out the touchscreen on the latest diagnostic equipment or simply that evergreen staple of the honest business deal – the humble handshake.
Getting ahead of the competition
Currently, the automotive repair sector feels like it’s moving as quickly as the cylinders in a V8 engine and there’s no chance of keeping up. Well, that’s where a visit to Mechanex this May could help you and your business. Not only will all the latest tools and equipment be there, but also a range of workshop solutions designed to streamline your business to compete with the main dealers. Take, for instance, well-known workshop owner Tim Benson, who got chatting to OE data supplier Alldata at Mechanex, did a free trial of their software and never looked back.
As with every Mechanex show, we will be bringing our PMM Live seminar stand, where previous speakers have included Darren Darling, Tom Denton, Matt Cleevely and Hayley Pells as well as regularly featuring useful industry updates from the IGA and Neil Pattemore.
Mechanex-PMM Live takes place at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate, on 16- 17th May.
The centre is just off the A1 and parking is free, just type HG2 8NZ into your sat nav.
