Brembo offers some handy advice in the fight against counterfeit products.
Aware of its garage customers’ needs, Brembo says it is constantly searching for ways to fight counterfeit products. Since the company’s products are active safety components for the vehicle, it is paramount that mechanics can be sure the product they have purchased and fitted to their customers’ vehicles is a Brembo original.
The Automotive and Motorcycle Performance divisions at the company have already implemented systems to protect garages from the hazards of counterfeit products but, in 2017, the manufacturer’s aftermarket range of brake discs and brake pads will be subject to an even more effective system to guarantee that products are original, thereby providing a safe and satisfying customer experience.

What to look for
When identifying an original part, it is best to start with the box. Besides the classic Brembo red colour, boxes for the company’s aftermarket brake discs and pads feature the faces of employees, which is claimed to be a testament to the sense of belonging and dedication of Brembo to its clients. If it’s not in a box that matches this description, then it is definitely a fake!
Furthermore, both the brake discs and pads of the aftermarket range are marked with the Brembo code and logo, as well as with the technical information required by law.
Finally, the boxes feature new elements that help to guarantee the authenticity of Brembo aftermarket products. The brake disc boxes feature a hologram printed on the label, and this hologram can’t be faked. For further confirmation, the unique QR code should be scanned, which guarantees that the packaging – which must be sealed – is original.
The brake pad boxes, on the other hand, feature a safety seal with void technology. Each individual seal also features a unique QR code, which enables the recipient to instantly verify the authenticity of the product
