Simple steps for correct trolley jack maintenance

CHECKING/TOPPING UP HYDRAULIC JACK OIL

Firstly, open the release valve and lower the pumping handle, ensuring the jack lifting arm is fully lowered.

Now remove the oil filler cap and check the oil level. It should be 5mm below the bottom of the filler neck. If it’s too low, top up with Sealey hydraulic jack oil. This practise applies to most jacks, but the release valve, oil filler and oil levels will differ on other units.

Replace the filler cap and tighten the release valve. The jack will now need to be bled.

BLEEDING THE TROLLEY JACK

Open the jack release valve by twisting the handle anti-clockwise.

Now pump the jack 20 times by using the handle. This purges any air out of the system and lubricates the internal seals.

Close the release valve by turning the jack handle clockwise. If the jack handle won’t lift, or rises but won’t hold alone, repeat the procedure. The method for operating the release valve does differ on different types of jacks.
