BMW EWS Tampering


Autologic, fault to fix – BMW E6X, E8X & MINI R56/55/57/59/60; Non starter, but will crank.


This fault will often trigger a EWS anti-tampering fault code message (as well as various other codes) and is usually caused by a flat battery, or if the battery was disconnected for a long time. It can also be stored if the Car Access System (CAS) has been replaced.

THE FIX

Step 1

  1. If the vehicle battery has gone flat or was disconnected for a length of time, it will need to be fully charged.
  2. If the CAS module has been replaced then it will need to be coded. The DME/DDE (engine module) may need to be updated if the integration levels are too far apart.

Step 2

Once the vehicle battery is fully charged, you’ll need to run through a few functions:

a) Go into DRIVE,

b) Then into CAS,

c) Then into SERVICE FUNCTIONS,

d) Then you will need to RESET STARTER INTERLOCK and, if applicable, the DME/EWS alignment must be carried out. You can also reset the CAS module, if necessary.

Step 3

  1. When these steps have been carried out, clear the fault memory down.
  2. Check to see if the EWS tampering fault code has been cleared.
  3. If the fault is cleared you should now be able to start the car.

BMW SOFTWARE RELEASE

Autologic has recently announced the release of the BMW F26 (X4) chassis, which is available on all Autologic devices to all customers with a valid BMW contract.

Following customer feedback, the BMW F26 (X4) has been developed covering variants and functions for all model year vehicles from 2014 onwards. This includes dynamic data, module information, fault codes, adaptations and routine functions across the range of drive, body, chassis and infotainment systems.To install on your AssistPlus device:

1. Ensure that you have a Wi-Fi connection;

2. Press: Settings > Updates > Check for Updates;

3. When prompted press Download Updates;

4. Wait for the download to complete;

5. Press Restart.
