Abnormal noise from front suspension when manoeuvring – Seat Leon

FAULT:

We are having difficulty finding the source of an abnormal noise from the front suspension of a 2013 Seat Leon when manoeuvring. We have heard the noise on a road test but have been unsuccessful in recreating it in the workshop. Do you have any idea what could be causing this noise?

FIX:

We are aware of an abnormal noise on Leon models without an active suspension system. The noise is due to excessive friction between the front shock absorber damper rod cover and the shock absorber bump stop. Apply silicone grease to the contact surfaces of the shock absorber damper rod cover and the shock absorber bump stop (see Fig 1.1). Carry out a road test to ensure the noise has been eliminated.
