RWC Training Centre resumes courses

RWC Training Centre has announced it will be resuming its portfolio of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and electric vehicle (EV) training courses from Monday 1 June.

The shortage of skills in the critical areas of technology was said to be acute before the outbreak of Covid-19; it is expected to be exacerbated as training and apprenticeships have both been put on hold during lockdown.

Meanwhile, demand for EVs in particular has reportedly remained strong. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the top two selling vehicles in the UK in April were both electric, while the overall EV market is predicted to double this year despite the effects of the pandemic.

Rob Ward, Managing Director of RWC Training Centre, said: “We appreciate how difficult it has been for the industry over the last few months, but returning to business without the necessary skills can only make a bad situation worse – while risking the health of technicians and customers alike.”

The courses will be held at RWC’s IMI-approved centre in Milton Keynes in full accordance with government safety guidelines. The company will also implement a number of additional measures to ensure the safety of attendees and instructors.

These include reducing the number of attendees to single figures to maintain the two metre social distancing guidelines, regular cleaning of the facility, regular disinfection of surface areas, hand gel and hand washing facilities for visitors, as well as masks, gloves and disinfectant wipes, and the introduction of new protocols to minimise touching surfaces.

Rob continued: “The health and safety of our customers and partners is paramount and we will do all we can to minimise that risk and ensure we’re working in the safest way possible.

“All courses are available now for booking, and we would ask that you contact us as soon as possible as there will be a surge of activity once lockdown is fully lifted.”
