Marathon effort by BEN runners

The 2014 London Marathon once again proved how important running events and challenges are to the fundraising efforts of any charity as five determined runners from the automotive industry took on the 26.2 mile course to raise money for BEN. The current total raised through sponsorship is over £12,000 and rising every day; an amazing achievement which will almost certainly mean the industry charity receives £100 for every one of the 130 miles collectively run on the day!

Hundreds of men and women enter marathons, half marathons and other challenges or events every year on behalf of BEN. The money they raise makes a significant difference to those who are facing physical, emotional and even financial difficulties. BEN endeavours to provide the care and support required in these times of hardship and stress.

Commenting on his own experience Marathoner Mike Fenlon said: “Just to say a big thank you to all at BEN for giving me the chance to run in the London marathon this year. Although it was by far the hardest challenge I have ever given myself I cannot believe how special the event was.”

Mike’s time was 4hrs 50m. His co-runners on the day were Neil Kennett, (4hrs 11), Andy Hamilton (4hrs 33), James Dickens (5hrs 34) and Julie Howard (4hrs 13).
