Lubricant specialists FUCHS has shown its commitment to renewable energy with a £700,000 investment at its UK base in Stoke-on-Trent.
The company upgraded its 20 acre facility with the installation of more than 2,000 solar panels and will generate over 380,000 kWh of clean renewable energy per year.
It is estimated that the solar photovoltaic panels will produce around 15% of the electricity required to run the site each year.
The company has long been at the forefront of environmentally friendly energy, beginning in the 1970s with pioneering research in developing lubricants from sustainable and renewable resources with the aim of limiting environmental impact.
Rob Wood, the Manufacturing Director of FUCHS Lubricants (UK) plc, said: “We are delighted to show our commitment to renewable and clean energy with the installation of solar panels at our site in Hanley.
“It is a large and long-term investment for FUCHS and the electricity generated helps reduce the impact on the environment.
“We continue to be at the top of the industry for research and development into renewable resources and this is underlined by making our UK base more environmentally friendly.”
With over 100 years of experience, FUCHS develops and manufactures a diverse range of lubricants at its Stoke-on-Trent site, including TITAN engine oils, gear oils, hydraulic oils, ECOCOOL metalworking fluids and specialist pharmaceutical lubricants.
