Banner Batteries has further upgraded its main production plant in Austria having installed an innovative and highly efficient exhaust air filter system.
Representing an investment of €400,000 and commissioned within Banner’s pre-production area, this latest move will enable the starter battery manufacturer to reduce its production emissions by a further two-thirds.
Designed by Kappa Filter Systems GmbH and featuring an extremely effective filter material that represents a first both in Austria and worldwide, the exhaust air cleaning concept reaffirms Banner Batteries commitment to delivering the highest environmental and safety standards through the adoption of latest production process technologies.
Commenting on the decision to invest in the new system, Banner’s Technical Director,
Franz Dorninger said: “Throughout Banner’s history the company has always manufactured batteries subject to strict environmental and safety standards that go far beyond what is required on a statutory basis.
“And despite the fact the our emissions are already minimal and well below stipulated limits, thanks to the two-stage filter inbuilt into the exhaust air cleaning concept, we will be able to guarantee the lowest possible emission values.”
Explaining the technology deployed behind the new system, Harald Baumgartner, Kappa Filter Systems GmbH Project Manager added: “The filter system installed at the Banner plant sets new standards in the field of exhaust air filtration technology and thus comes very, very close to our ethos that “The future has zero emissions”.
“Apart from the high level of fine dust filtration, the implementation of a safety concept means that emission escapes can be prevented even in the case of a system fault. In this regard, permanent monitoring of the quality of the filtered air and a policing filter stage ensure the highest plant safety and a level of purity that far exceeds what is currently deemed state of the art.”
During the past four years, Banner Batteries has invested a total of €35 million in its Linz-Leonding production plant.
