Autoelectro has won a Green Apple Environment Award in the international campaign to find the greenest companies, councils and communities.
The Bradford-based supplier of remanufactured starters and alternators competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, and will be presented with a trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London on Monday, November 16.
As a result of this Green Apple Award success, Autoelectro has been invited to have its winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow the example. The company could also progress to represent England in the Green World Awards, and the European Business Awards for the Environment.
The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries.
The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world. They are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
Managing Director, Tony Bhogal, commented that this was a fantastic achievement and great to be acknowledged for its efforts and continual investment in the environment.
The company has also recently achieved ISO14001 accreditation which is the internationally recognised Environmental Management Standard. He added that the award recognised the company’s commitment to the environment with its principal activity being the remanufacture of starter motors and alternators for the automotive industry, particularly in the face of pricing pressure from cheaper quality far eastern copy parts.
The remanufacturing of starter motors and alternators involves the complete dis-assembly, replacement of faulty and wear parts, re-assembly and final testing to Original Equipment standards using the latest state-of-the-art computerised test-benches. Every remanufactured unit is sold with a two year warranty.
