As the season starts to turn, many workshop owners will have an eye on how they can further expand in 2025. This is something Ryme Worldwide is looking to help garages with.
An MOT Bay can be extremely fruitful, not just for the increase in turnover, but time saved not taking the vehicle to a neighbouring business, or worse still, the customer taking it there, which could result in losing the customer. Furthermore, over the years, the MOT bay has not only been seen as an extra service, but as a key source of revenue for the workshop. Another area to consider, is vehicle air conditioning services and repairs, which can also be very lucrative with many machines being fully automatic, leaving the technician free to do other work during some of the processes.
Cleaning vs. replacing
Over the last few years DPF and Catalytic converter cleaning/repairing has become very popular due to the cost of cleaning compared to replacing the complete part. With many vehicles such as courier vans, trucks, and emergency vehicles such as ambulances, this cleaning process is fast becoming a regular thing, with the equipment/machines being able to perform the process, with the only labour element being the removal and the re-fit of the part.
With all of this said, the fastest growth opportunity right now is the EV Service and repair bay. With one in four cars sold last year being electric, the proportion of EV car and van is fast growing. Furthermore, this service has a sensible fee and little consumables except a pollen filter. The package comes complete with online training modules, a suitable lift, battery table for removal and refit as well as all the relevant insulated and specialist tools and required PPE. And the best part is, if promoted correctly, the whole investment is (potentially) paid off within 15 working days.
