PMM talks to Axes system ahead of the opening MECHANEX show of 2016, at Alexandra Palace in North London on April 19 & 20.
Do you have any new/interesting updates to CDIF/3 in 2016?
Our main goal is always to make the CDIF/3 diagnostic tool fast, handy and functional to use, so we decided that it should allow operation via mobile devices. This year we’re focusing on developing CDIF/3 for Android.
Most of the software development is already complete and we’re currently making some final improvements. All this is undertaken in co-operation with our users, since their feedback, opinion and needs are of the utmost importance to us.
The demand for special functions that exceed the customary diagnostic standards is so great that we have had to react by creating a new department within our company to deal solely with this matter. CDIF/3 is slowly evolving into new directions in order to offer additional abilities that are usually not available in standard diagnostic tools.
These new features include: saving/writing EEPROM of control units; saving/writing flash memory of control units; control unit cloning; control unit replacement functions (learning the configuration of the old ECU in the new one); readout of PIN codes; learning new keys; odometer calibration; immobiliser deactivation; and deletion of crash data.
How often is technical data/software updated?
A user with an active subscription can update the CDIF/3 at least six times a year, with the same number of updates available for both windows and Android systems. Any user can install an additional, small application to automatically download the new software/update at the right time.
Why is it so important to have a diagnostic tool that features modern functions?
New vehicles are now equipped with many more systems that are subject to diagnosis, with one of the most significant examples being the diesel particulate filter (DPF); it would be unthinkable to have a modern diagnostic tester that doesn’t include a DPF regeneration function these days. It’s also impossible to change brake pads on EBPequipped vehicles without a diagnostic tool.
Currently the most sought-after functions include TPMS systems and AdBlue system monitoring and we’re always striving to provide technicians with a relevant software update for the CDIF/3 that meets their needs and demands.
You’re offering a ‘demo’ version of CDIF/3 software – what will this allow installers to experience?
Our demo version enables the establishment of a fictitious connection with the Renault Laguna and is developed to enable everyone to test how easy and intuitive the CDIF/3 really is. The program allows you to test the following functionalities: readout and reset of fault codes; readout of parameters/measured values; actuation of relays; idle speed control and even the coding of injectors.
The demo version of our software can be downloaded at our website: www.cdif3.com
Do you any special offers that MECHANEX visitors can take advantage of?
To celebrate the development of our Android platform we have a special offer for new customers: Any visitor that buys a CDIF/3 kit will get a FREE tablet! The free tablet is a high-performance, modern device with a 10″ screen, four-core processor, IPS HD display, 3G modem, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
