Mechanex celebrates 20 years in the aftermarket

Next month sees the return of Mechanex-PMM Live to Surrey’s Sandown Park, marking 20 years since the south’s premier aftermarket trade show was inaugurated.

Mechanex-PMM Live is bringing almost 60 of the top aftermarket businesses to Sandown Park Racecourse on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th November to showcase the latest in parts, tooling and diagnostics.

The free-to-attend show offers workshops the perfect opportunity to try out and experience workshop equipment, diagnostic solutions and garage software before committing to a purchase. This saves garage owners time and stress taking a chance on equipment, whilst enabling suppliers to have potential facetime with over a thousand garage operatives in just two days.

Not only will there be a wide array of products at the show, but Mechanex-PMM Live is well known for its exclusive show offers, with visitors regularly coming away with bags full of great bargains on hand tools, diagnostic equipment and even garage equipment.

Two decades of success

With its debut show taking place in 2004 at Manchester Central at a time when few garages were connected to the internet and social media was in its infancy, Mechanex-PMM Live has seen great change afoot in the industry over the past two decades. The show’s increased engagement with social media platforms, video content and online discussion reflects the changing face of the aftermarket. Reflecting this, the next episode of the Professional Motor Mechanic Podcast will be looking at how the aftermarket more widely has developed and evolved since the early 2000s and how Mechanex itself has adapted to match those changes.

Celebrating the show’s continued success, Show Manager Rob Gilham commented: “Running a successful trade show is not easy and the fact that we’ve been going for twenty years is a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes into the show. We’ve consistently engaged with our exhibitors and seminar speakers to ensure that visitors come away from the event with the best experience possible.

“We know it’s a big ask to get garage owners away from the workshop for half a day and we are always gratified to see how many invest their time and energy in coming to the show. After adding another date to the calendar with our Harrogate show, we believe we are now the best placed show to reach independent garages in the north and south of the UK.”

What to expect

This year’s Sandown Park event will feature nearly 60 of the aftermarket’s most prestigious brands under one roof, including Mann+Hummel, Opus IVS, Bosch and show headline sponsor Dewalt Auto. Schaeffler will also be appearing on the seminar stand.

Workshops on the lookout for the latest diagnostic equipment will find plenty to try out at the show, with companies such as Thinkcar, Autel, Bosch, Hickleys, Launch, Opus IVS and Topdon bringing diagnostic kit for sale.

This year’s show is sponsored by leading hand and power tool brand Dewalt, which is clarifying its position in the automotive repair sector with a huge presence at the south’s premier aftermarket trade show, Mechanex-PMM Live.

Also at the show will be organisations which support the aftermarket more generally, such as the IAAF, the IGA and BEN, the automotive charity, among others.
