DVSA temporarily suspends vehicle approval tests

The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has announced that due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, vehicle approval tests have now been suspended for up to three months.

This applies to all types of vehicle approval tests, including:

  • Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA)
  • Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval (MSVA)
  • Certificate of Initial Fitness (COIF)

What this means for you

The DVSA has published guidance on what this means if you have a test booked.

If you have a test booked, you do not need to do anything now. You will get an email to tell you your test has been rebooked, with the date and time of the new test. This will be sent around two weeks before the new date.

If your vehicle is critical to the COVID-19 response

You can ask the DVSA for an emergency test if your vehicle is critical to the COVID-19 response.
