Grinding noise from the front of a Ford S-Max while driving?

FAULT:

A customer of ours with a 2014 Ford S-MAX is complaining of a grinding noise from the front of the vehicle when driving. We have experienced the grinding noise on road test but have yet to find the cause in the workshop. Is this grinding noise known to you?

FIX:

We know of a grinding noise that affects several Ford models and it is due to a worn intermediate driveshaft support bearing. Fit a new intermediate driveshaft support (Fig 1). Renew the intermediate driveshaft support bearing bracket and nuts. Carry out road test to ensure the grinding noise has been rectified.
