CITROEN C-ELYSEE – ENGINE OVERHEATING

FAULT:

We are having trouble finding the cause of an overheating issue on a 2013 Citroen C-Elysee 1.6 HDi. We found the radiator had leaked so we replaced it, but the vehicle has returned with a leak in the same area. All of the coolant hoses seem to be OK. Can you help?

FIX:

Yes, we have heard of this issue affecting 1.6 HDi engines with engine code 9HP (DV6DTED4) up to 14/03/14 (RPO13628). The engine coolant blower motor cowling chafes against the radiator, causing a coolant leak. Remove the lugs from the engine coolant blower motor cowling to leave a smooth surface (Fig 2). Replace the radiator if necessary.
