Why euro 4/5 engines require a different seal type to euro 6 engines.
Two different oil filters are recommended for some popular Citroen and Peugeot 1.6 HDi applications, depending on the engine code. This is particularly the case for MANN-FILTER references HU 716/2 x and HU 7033 z.
HU 716/2 x is specific for Euro 4 and 5 engines and the new-to-range HU 7033 z is engineered for Euro 6 engines only. It is important to remember that these part numbers are not interchangeable due to a difference in the supplied housing seal.
HU 716/2 x has a black square sectioned seal and HU 7033 z has a green O ring seal made from viton rubber.
Leaks and loss of oil can occur if the correct filter and seal are not fitted. This could potentially cause component and engine damage. Applications using the new HU 7033 z are Citroen and Peugeot HDi with the following engine codes only: BHX (DV6FC), DV6FC, DV6FD & DV6FE.
