Schaeffler launches E-Axle repair kit for e-Golf

Schaeffler has launched the E-Axle RepSystem-G, a repair kit for the E-Axle fitted to the Volkswagen e-Golf VII, as the company continues to roll out support for garages looking to take advantage of the electric vehicle opportunity.

With the latest new car sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showing battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales were up 3.8% year-on-year in March, the number of vehicles on the road continues to grow.

Matthew Selby, Sales and Marketing Director at Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK), said: “Schaeffler’s E-Axle RepSystem-G is a unique repair system. This enables workshop experts to repair the E-Axle instead of replacing it completely. The associated repair costs for the driver amount to only about one fifth of the cost of installing a completely new E-Axle.”

The e-Golf was launched in 2014 and was produced until 2020, when it was replaced by the ID.3.  In total, 145,561 e-Golfs were built and sold across Europe, making it one of the most popular EVs of its era. Its 3-in-1 E-Axle contains the electric motor, the transmission and the power electronics in one unit.

The Schaeffler E-Axle RepSystem-G includes all the necessary components for a repair, including ball-bearings, angular ball bearing, cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, locking ring, oil seals, o ring and end caps.

In tandem with its support for the aftermarket, Schaeffler continues to supply vehicle manufacturers with individual components and subsystems for electric and hybrid vehicles. Following on from the 3-in-1 E-Axle is the 4-in-1 axle, which integrates thermal management as well.
