The MCL500 brake cleaner from Mintex claims to be a reliable way of removing oil, grease and dirt without leaving residues.
It can clean brake, clutch and gear components, starter motors and alternators, carburettor, fuel pumps and engine components as well as glass and metal surfaces before gluing.
Some advantages are said to be that it is registered with the UFI, it’s free of chlorinated solvents and it doesn’t attack polystyrene. To apply, spray a generous amount on the parts to be cleaned, let the solvent drip off or evaporate then repeat for heavy soiling.
