SDL Car Parts has celebrated 47 years of serving the garage industry by opening a York branch, an Investors in People accreditation and a new brand name.
SDL Car Parts achievement of Investors in People (IIP) Standard Accreditation is described as a milestone which demonstrates the company’s commitment to leading, supporting and developing its people.
Nick Holland, Managing Director at SDL Car Parts, said: “This accreditation was achieved through diligent effort and under the guidance of Julie Salter, our dedicated People & Culture Director.
“It demonstrates how we’ve matured as a business and seek to invest in our people and drive a positive family culture where people want to work hard, have fun and hopefully stay for years to come.”
SDL Car Part’s IIP accreditation also coincides with the decision to change its trading name from SDL Minorfern to SDL Car Parts, which is being rolled out across its 13 branches.
Since 2004, the business had traded as SDL Minorfern, recognisable in the areas it serves by its fleet of over 160 delivery vans.
Understanding the requirement for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, SDL Car Parts will now be running a trial at the launch of its newest branch, at Clifton Moor in York, which opens on 4th August 2025, with a fleet of 8 electric delivery vans. The branch opening sees SDL Car parts extending its coverage to over 100 miles north to south, from York in North Yorkshire, to Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire.
Nick added: “We are committed to the future of the automotive industry, as our expansion in York and our continued commitment to our people demonstrates. We look forward to improving local supply chains by bringing a local, friendly and reliable service to the city. Local garages across York will benefit from our inventory of 100,000 stocked items. In turn, motorists in the city will receive better value and improved levels of service.”
