KYB celebrates 80 years

Over the past 80 years, KYB has put hydraulic technology to use by creating critical products with vibration and power control. These products are used across a wide range of disciplines, including: automotive, motorcycle, railway, aircraft, construction machinery, special-purpose vehicles and equipment businesses.

Mr Shiro Kayaba established the Kayaba research centre in 1919, when he was only 21 years old. He was a very creative and talented inventor. The first product he developed was a ground-breaking hydraulic take-off and landing safety system which was used on some of the largest ships in the Japanese Imperial Navy. On 10th March 1935, he established Kayaba Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Today, the KYB Group has 84 companies worldwide, with over 13,000 employees.

In Europe, KYB is a leading manufacturer of original equipment (OE) shock absorbers, with several factories in Spain and the Czech Republic. The same world class OE product quality is available to the European aftermarket. KYB now also manufactures aftermarket coil springs in a new purpose built factory. In addition, KYB Europe supplies a comprehensive range of suspension mounting kits and protection kits.

KYB recommends that all shock absorbers and coil springs are fitted in pairs, to restore the vehicles suspension performance and handling to how the vehicle manufacturer designed it.
