A collision with a hit and run driver is what the majority of drivers fear most, according to a recent survey.
The survey conducted by Servicing Stop, found that 66% of motorists are worried about having their car damaged by a hit and run driver. This ranked as the biggest concern, even higher than the prospect of having their car stolen or being broken into overnight.
Just 11% of motorists feared their car being broken into overnight with 21% more terrified of their car being stolen.
It seems there is cause for concern too as another study conducted by CINT and commissioned by Servicing Stop found that 15% of motorists aged 18-29 have fled the scene of a traffic accident, with 4% of all drivers admitting the same thing.
A further 6% of motorists admitted they have failed to report an accident, another 5% have not reported a traffic accident to the police within 24 hours and 4% of motorists have failed to stop and identify themselves when involved in an accident themselves.
CEO and founder of Servicing Stop, Oly Richmond, said: “With more drivers than ever before fleeing the scene of an accident, motorists are terrified that their car will be damaged with no culprit at the scene to take responsibility. It is shocking to see there are still so many careless drivers out there but it is a shame to see motorists so concerned about the safety of their vehicles.”
