Dayco engine products used on international award-winning engines

Dayco, a leading engine products and drive systems supplier for the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries, has announced that an engine built with Dayco products and systems has been named an International Engine of the Year Award winner for the fourth consecutive year.

Ford’s 999cc three-cylinder turbo engine, engineered using the Dayco timing Belt-in-Oil system for both the primary and oil pump drives, won the sub 1-litre category while three additional engines built with Dayco engine components won their respective categories.

“Congratulations to Ford, PSA and Ferrari on their continued success at the International Engine of the Year Awards, and thank you for trusting in Dayco to help deliver these accolades,” said Paul DiLisio, Senior Vice President of Global Automotive and Industrial OE Sales for Dayco.

“The timing Belt-in-Oil, invented by Dayco and in series production since 2007, weighs less, has lower stretch, reduces friction and is quieter than traditional chain-drive components. For our customers, such as Ford, this translates into higher engine performance, lower emissions and improved fuel economy.”

Similar to previous years, the International Engine of the Year Awards 2015 jury was made up of the world’s most respected motoring journalists, according to Engine Technology International magazine, presenter of the prestigious awards.

In total, 65 journalists from 31 countries helped select the 12 award winners. The panellists judged each engine using criteria such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability.

Each panellist had 25 points to award to their five favourite engines in each category, with a maximum of 15 points and a minimum of one point to be allocated to an engine.

Additional Dayco engine products, such as front end auxiliary drive belts, belt tensioners and pulleys, are also utilised on the winning engines of the 1-litre to 1.4-litre, above 4-litre and Performance Engine categories.

These winners include the PSA Peugeot Citroen 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo and Ferrari 4.5-litre V8 engines. In total, Dayco engine products and systems are in use on more than 25 finalist engines, including those of Ford, Volkswagen, Ferrari, Fiat, Audi, BMW and PSA.
