BookMyGarage has revealed bookings for air conditioning re-gas and servicing almost quadrupled on the platform during the recent spate of soaring summer temperatures.
The comparison website for MOTs, servicing & repairs saw a spike in bookings when temperatures hit 30-degree plus in June and July.
In the first half of June as the weather warmed up, bookings through the platform for aircon services more than doubled by 220% week on week. However, BookMyGarage found when the temperatures actually reached in excess of 30 degrees, bookings more than tripled rising by 381% from the beginning of June to the beginning of July. This coincided with the hottest day of the year recorded in the UK so far at 35.8 degrees on 1st July.
Throughout the same period (4 June-14 July) summer health check bookings remained stable per week with 7-14 July seeing the most bookings with 14% more bookings on average. While the temperatures for that period were over 30-degrees, the increase could reportedly be due to the pending summer holidays as families prepared for day trips and get-aways following the end of the school summer term.
Overall, aircon service bookings made through the platform increased by more than two-thirds (69.26%) in the first six months of this year (01 January-30 June) compared to the first six months of 2024.
Meanwhile, summer health check bookings almost tripled (up by 292%) from 1 January to 30 June 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
BookMyGarage Chief Marketing Officer, Jessica Potts, said: “Our booking data shows a clear pattern: demand for aircon servicing spikes reactively during heatwaves – often once temperatures have already peaked – as drivers seek immediate relief from soaring temperatures. But by that point, garages may be at capacity, making it harder to secure appointments quickly. Encouraging motorists to book ahead of the heat not only improves their experience but also helps garages manage demand more efficiently. The significant year-on-year growth in both aircon and summer health check bookings — alongside the 48% year-on-year increase in overall bookings we reported for Q2 – reflects rising consumer confidence in BookMyGarage and the growing value we deliver to both drivers and our garage partners.”
