Autotech Training has announced a strategic partnership with TOPDON UK, which will see the nationwide rollout of IMI-accredited Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) training.
Delivered directly to the premises of garages and workshops across the country, this initiative will make Autotech Training one of the only training providers in the UK capable of offering IMI-accredited ADAS training on-site, regardless of whether a business currently owns ADAS equipment.
Previously, the delivery of ADAS training was limited to Autotech Training’s purpose-built headquarters in Milton Keynes or garages who already had the necessary ADAS calibration equipment in place. Through the partnership with TOPDON UK, Autotech Training will now be fully equipped with TOPDON’s Phoenix Mobile ADAS units.
The rise of ADAS in modern vehicles has seen features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring becoming increasingly common. However, as these technologies have become more sophisticated, the aftermarket, and particularly the independent sector, has struggled to keep pace with the knowledge required to service and calibrate these systems correctly.
Alistair McCrindle, Operations Director of Autotech Training, said: “There’s a growing gap in ADAS knowledge across the aftermarket, and it’s critical that we close it. Technicians need the right skills to ensure that these systems are calibrated correctly. Otherwise, the equipment investments many garages are making risk becoming redundant.”
This partnership directly addresses that knowledge gap, offering an opportunity for businesses to not only upskill their technicians but also protect the long-term value of their ADAS investments. For garages and workshops, this means they no longer need to transport staff to remote training centres or invest in their own ADAS kit before receiving training.
Beyond upskilling vehicle technicians, the importance of ADAS knowledge extends to educating motorists. According to research by Which? over half of UK drivers (54%) admit to disabling ADAS features in their cars because they find them confusing, distracting, or even “dangerous.” This misunderstanding not only undermines vehicle safety but also places pressure on workshops when motorists question the need of ADAS recalibration.

Whether a garage specialises in accident repair, windscreen replacement, tyre fitting, or general maintenance, ADAS calibration is becoming a standard part of the job.
