Ring Automotive has advised technicians on what to stock in the lead up to MOT season, highlighting product categories that may be forgotten.
With MOT season rapidly approaching, Ring advises technicians to stock up on the regular items vehicles commonly fail on, such as bulbs and wiper blades, but also to think about other vital components often needed but forgotten.
Ring’s range of more than 900 bulb types covers approximately 99% of the vehicle car parc, meaning there is a bulb for almost every application on a car, motorbike or truck. Dependent on the type of bulb a customer would prefer, Ring offers its Brighter range, which as the name suggests, puts more light on the road for the driver. The Whiter bulbs give a high spec look, to match the white light emitted by LED daytime running bulbs, which are road legal and require no wiring change. Ring suggests technicians asking their customers if they want Brighter or Whiter bulbs, the workshop could increase its revenue from a £5 sale to a £30 sale.
When it comes to MOTs, it is not always the main lights which need replacing. It is often the signal lights. For instance, the most popular selling bulb in the Ring range is the humble R501, as it is used for multiple fittings across a range of vehicle manufactures.
While bulbs are a typical product to think about when preparing for MOT season, having a stock of fixtures and fittings which may be needed for repairs may not be. However, consumables such as hose clips, fasteners, fuses and more, could be required for repairs if a vehicle fails its MOT or for servicing, which many motorists ask for at the same time. Number plates not being secured for instance, is an MOT failure. However, Ring’s Core Consumable range, which has a pack of 200 self-tapping screws (RCC60090) with assorted colours of flip top caps, will provide the solution and extra revenue.
The Core Consumables range features more than 100 references, including fuses, terminals, cables, connectors, and more, all available in bulk packs of 10, 50, 100 or 200. This approach helps businesses reduce order frequency, cut costs and streamline their operations, no more wasting time purchasing individual items, and creating a well-stocked resource in time for MOT season.
A range Ring is not necessarily known for is its horn range. To pass an MOT, the horn needs to be loud enough for pedestrians and other road users to hear it and emit a continuous sound. By having a selection of horns available, it can create a simple fix to get a car through its MOT, as well as providing extra revenue. Ring’s range of horns include snail, compact and disc horns, with the option of a high or low note and can fit 12V or 24V vehicles.
