The plans follow an overhaul of the High Wycombe-based charity’s operational methods to secure a sustainable future for SKIDZ which has also received £100,000 of grants over recent months, reflecting confidence in its new approach aimed at making the organisation more self-sufficient.

SKIDZ, a motor project that gives young people a chance to gain vocational skills in motor mechanics, has linked up with Amersham & Wycombe College to offer an exciting new course to students who can enrol at a special event on Tuesday, June 18.
Originally set up in 1998 to help disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, SKIDZ has evolved to work with schools across the region – delivering courses and activities in motor mechanics, aimed at helping young people develop skills and confidence to enable them to reach their full potential.

SKIDZ motor project has appointed Jonathan Tribe to head-up the charity’s business approach to fund-raising by developing its number plate business with rally driving legend and SKIDZ Patron Paddy Hopkirk and Spanish company Samar’t.
The partnership was launched in February as a way of SKIDZ self-funding its work with disadvantaged and disaffected young people, rather than relying on grants and donations from benevolent supporters.

As one academic year draws to a close the team at SKIDZ are already busy making preparations to welcome a new intake of students and the familiar faces of young people returning to take a new higher level mechanics course being introduced for the first time in September.
The Institute of Motor Industry’s (IMI) Level 2 course will be led by new member of staff Craig Critch, who brings a wealth of experience having worked in training roles for BMW, EMTEC Colleges Ltd and Fiat Automotive Group.
