Land Rover 4 – Lack of power

FAULT:

We have a customer with a 2011 Land Rover Discovery 4 (3.0L diesel) who is complaining of a loss of engine power and the engine warning lamp is on. There are trouble codes stored relating to the turbocharger (TC) wastegate regulating valve. We have removed and checked the TC wastegate regulating valve and it seems to be OK. Can you help?

FIX:

Yes, we are aware of a fault that affects the 2011 model year Land Rover Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport models with 306DT engine code. The fault is due to the TC wastegate regulating valve vacuum pipe ‘T’ piece becoming blocked. Renew all the ‘T’ pieces, available from the Land Rover parts department, in the TC wastegate regulating valve vacuum pipe (see Fig 1). Erase trouble codes and carry out a road test to ensure the fault has been rectified.
