Engine Noise in Passenger Compartment – Audi Q5

Audi Q5 (8RB) (2008) – Increased engine noise in the passenger compartment.

FAULT:

We are experiencing a problem of increased engine noise in the passenger compartment of a 2009 Audi Q5. We have visually checked in the engine bay and in both front footwells, but we cannot find the source of the engine noise. Can you help?

FIX:

Yes, we are aware of the fault you describe which affects Q5 models up to 2009. It is due to the sealing tube of the steering column intermediate shaft being loose or coming adrift (Fig 1.2). Check the sealing tube of the steering column intermediate shaft is correctly fitted (Fig 1.1). If the sealing tube of the steering column intermediate shaft is loose or has come adrift, fit a new sealing tube.
