Yuasa supports karting star of the future

Yuasa Battery Sales (UK)  is continuing to support 11-year-old karting sensation Albert Carter as he progresses from karts to highly competitive Brisca Ministox stock motor racing.

Albert, who is the son of drag racing legend and four-time European FIA Top Four Champion Andy Carter, has been racing go karts since he was just three-years-old. He will enter his first three Brisca Ministox races at a national event held on the Isle of Man this weekend (30 July to 3 August).

Yuasa has a strong and proud association with the Carter’s having sponsored Andy from 1994 through to his retirement in 2011. They have also supported Albert during his progression through the karting ranks.

Many top Formula one drivers have begun their careers in Ministox, a national stock car series featuring strengthened, modified mini’s with a fully welded chassis and heavy armour. Driving a car he built with his father, Albert’s entry marks a significant step in his driving career. It is hoped that after cutting his teeth at the remaining rounds of this year’s championship, he will go on to be a regular race winner in 2016.

Following in the tyre tracks of Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and many other top motorsport stars, Albert has competed in karting events across the world. Although only 11-years-old, he has enjoyed continued success on track including being awarded his National A Kart Licence aged just eight and winning the 2013 TVKC IAME championship, widely regarded as the toughest club championship in the country.

As one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers, Yuasa provides a wide range of Original Equipment (OE) standard automotive batteries and accessories, including conventional, EFB and AGM Start-Stop ranges for the latest vehicles. It also offers a complete online fitting system, featuring a powerful battery lookup tool with detailed fitting guides and technical information.

Yuasa has enjoyed phenomenal motorsport success in recent years as title sponsor of Honda Yuasa Racing in the British Touring Car Championship and sponsors of the Repsol Honda team in MotoGP.

Albert is delighted the brand is backing him as he lines up on the grip, he said: “I’m excited and looking forward to the new challenge of racing National Ministox. It’s an honour to have a great company like Yuasa supporting me and I will be giving it 100%.”

Andy Carter added: “We would like to say a big thanks to Yuasa for their fantastic products and support over the last 21 years. We have a big learning curve now that Albert has moved from karting to the National Ministox but as always we’re aiming high and with Yuasa’s support we aim to go to the very top of the sport.”
