FOXY Ladies celebrates 10 years with special membership offer

Female-friendly motoring organisation FOXY Lady Drivers Club is ten years old today and, as part of the celebrations, the company is holding a special one-day only membership to celebrate the occasion.

FOXY Lady Drivers Club is offering gift membership for just £10 (2014 price is £30, plus a one-off joining fee of £5) for one day only – a fabulous 62% discount on the usual price and a great value Christmas gift for any lady and her car.

About FOXY Lady Drivers Club

A lot has happened since December 2004, when FOXY founders Steph and Paul Savill first set up a motoring club for UK women drivers.

Their initial research confirmed that most women had a sad tale to tell about knowing someone who’d fallen foul of an unscrupulous motor industry trader. While few women seemed as interested in mechanical matters as many men, they all knew what they didn’t like about the motoring, with some complaining of feeling patronised, baffled by motoring jargon, sold services they didn’t need and expected to endure grubby facilities.

Ten years on and FOXY is an award-winning, not for profit organisation looking after the best motoring interests of more than 12,000 member families across the UK. The Club’s operation is funded by some 700 garages, repairers and dealers that it promotes as FOXY Lady Approved as female friendly. To keep them on their toes FOXY maintains a rigorous compliance process, including business visits and ongoing female feedback.

What women want

Steph was among the first in the automotive industry to spot that women drivers were on course to outnumber their male equivalents on UK roads. Given a choice, she knew that most women drivers would prefer a female friendly motoring experience.

“Busy women want to be able to rely on garages and car dealers for their motoring safety. They want to know about measurable quality standards, the business’ ethical approach and value for money prices. They like to see women in masculine environments and the likes of dirty reception areas or customer loos are a definite turn off. Women should be able to relax with a drink and a popular female magazine in a clean waiting area while competent and experienced staff repair their car,” she says.

“Not only are women buying nearly half of all new cars today but we’re also influencing the cars our partners buy and where to have them repaired and serviced. We deserve to be treated with more respect.”
