Jolyon Palmer will continue to be standard bearer for the Comma brand in the international GP2 motor racing championship in 2014. Spokesperson for Comma, Mike Bewsey said “GP2 is the recognised final ‘feeder’ series to the Formula 1 World Championship, and in a stand-out campaign on his way to finishing seventh in the championship last year, Jolyon convincingly won GP2 Feature races for Comma in Hungary and Singapore. This year, he is aiming to lift the championship title driving for the French Le Mans-based DAMS team. Jolyon has done Comma proud ever since he began representing the brand in the formative years of his single-seater career back in 2008, and we couldn’t be happier that the great results he has achieved since then have helped to carry him to the threshold of Formula 1.”

Palmer, the 23 year old son of former Formula 1 driver and Motorsport Vision chief executive Jonathan Palmer, has set his sights this season on nothing short of outright success. “I have only one objective this year, which is to win the GP2 title. I believe joining DAMS will give me the best opportunity to achieve that. They have a great track record of leading drivers to F1, and I will be working extremely hard to become DAMS’ third GP2 champion in four years, and maximise my chances of securing an F1 drive for 2015,” he said.

“The DAMS team are also our new international GP2 technical partners,” added Mr Bewsey. “They have an outstanding record, so I’m sure Jolyon is going to be on the front foot and right in the mix from the very start of the championship. All of us associated with the Comma brand are looking forward with great excitement to following his progress as the season unfolds.”

Mr Bewsey also announced that the Comma brand will continue as Technical Partner – and supply engine oils, coolants and maintenance chemicals – to all the cars in the burgeoning new BRDC Formula 4 championship in which Jolyon’s 17 year old younger brother, Will Palmer, will be carrying Comma brand colours in his first season of single-seater racing.

Inaugurated only last year, BRDC Formula 4 has immediately established itself as the premier UK junior single-seater competition for young drivers, attracting ambitious Karting graduates from around the world. Already, in addition to the cream of up-and coming British talent, the 2014 grid also includes entries from Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Venezuela, Denmark and Eire.

“We were excited and privileged to be involved right from the start of this important new championship which is nurturing the stars of the future,” said Mr Bewsey. “It complements our other technical partnerships with Jonathan Palmer’s MotorSport Vision operations, including the world-leading PalmerSport driving experience at Bedford Autodrome. We believe that there are no more demanding environments than these in which to prove and showcase Comma products under the most extreme conditions, and it gives us the complete confidence to offer a 100% guarantee of quality and compatibility for every recommended Comma brand application.”
